CBD and Seasonal Allergies: Can CBD Relieve Fall Allergies

Ah, you feel that chill in the air? With bright colorful leaves falling to the ground and the smell of apple cider, pumpkin pie, and cinnamon spice wafting through every shop… why, it must be fall. But for many people, the change in seasons comes with dreaded allergies.

Two of the most popular allergens that rears their ugly heads are mold spores and ragweed.

  • Ragweed usually produces pollen in the fall
  • Mold spores can form year round, but they’re most prominent in the spring, summer, and fall

Symptoms to these allergens include:

  • Stuffy nose
  • Itchy and/or watery eyes
  • Cough

Unfortunately, seasonal allergies can last for weeks. And in some cases, allergens like mold spores can cause digestive issues, headaches, and more.

So what’s a more natural way to address allergies?

Research surrounding how CBD works in the body is still limited. While we have several studies that demonstrate CBD is great for reducing unwanted stress and anxiety in humans, not many studies have been done on how CBD can improve or maintain the human immune system.

And it’s the overaction of our immune system that causes allergies.

But what we do know is that CBD helps keep our Endocannabinoid System (ECS) in balance. And when our ECS is in balance, the rest of our body stays in balance as well.

This is because our ECS is responsible for maintaining how our body functions, like our sleep, appetite, mood, pain, and even our immune health. So if we can maintain the health of our ECS, then we can have a stronger immune system.

Now, there are some studies that show CBD could potentially help prevent our cells from releasing histamines. So excessive sneezing, coughing, and other unwanted allergy symptoms could be reduced.

Other studies show that the terpenes found in full spectrum CBD products could also reduce certain antibodies that contribute to unwanted symptoms.

However, the best scientific evidence we have is that CBD is a powerful anti-inflammatory. And we know that where there is inflammation, there is usually sickness, allergies, and other health related problems.

But this is not to say that CBD is a “cure all” for those pesky seasonal allergies. It’s just a natural potential alternative to finding relief from some of these annoying symptoms.
